    Warachine Food Drive 2008

Monday, November 10, 2008, 09:23 PM EST [General]

Some people know that I own a game store in Greensburg, PA.  Coming up this Sunday, November 16th, we are going to be running a miniature game tournament called Foodmachine, a play on the real name Warmachine.  The idea behind this is that players are encouraged to cheat, at a price.  The price is canned goods.  Each time a player wants to reroll dice, he pays a can.  If he wants his opponent to reroll, he gives a can.  There are many other rules in play as well.  Each time this happens, the cost goes up exponentially (1, 2, 4, 8 and so on).  How this now ties in is that if anyone cares to donate any canned goods or non perishable foods, we would be happy to take it.  All donations go to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.  If you cannot make it on the day of the tournament, they will not be here until Wednesday the 19th.  Any donations will be gratefully accepted.  If you have any questions on where we are or times, please PM here or call me at 724-834-4045.  Thanks ever so much!!

    Goodbye Morelandshire

Monday, September 29, 2008, 03:04 PM EST [General]

Well, it comes to that time again when we must pack up our dear little town and put it away for the year.  This year has been one of the most amazing years ever since I actually was on cast.  I had so much fun, even trudging through rain and 90 degree weather with 110% humidity and 3 layers of clothes.  I would not trade the experience for anything!!  Everyone was so nice and the energy we got from the patrons and playtrons was amazing.  I so look forward to next year and I do so hope to meet even more people next year.  Good night, God bless, and Slainte!!

    Kilt Envy

Friday, August 29, 2008, 07:28 AM EST [General]

This year at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival, I was looking forward to donning my kilt and escaping away to Morelandshire for 6 weekends of fun and frivolity.  Well, as you know how best laid plans work, not to happen.  Earlier this year my wife and I decided to take an improv classs given by one of the past entertainers (Dave Flick) of the festival and the class was populated with 5 others that have worked at the festival in the past.  Had a great time.  Next we thought, we have this training, do you want to try out working at the festival, sure , why not.  Thus we tried out for simple peasant class parts, just something to get in for free at least.  Well, when all was said and done we are now Rose Singer, the town seamstress and I am Lord High Mayor John Howard.  So my original plans of wearing my kilt have been vanquished and I am getting used to the idea of wearing pants, kinda silly when you actually type that sentence out.  But after the first weekend after  some taunting from my Kilted Friends about becoming English, it has been quite fun.  I am truly looking forward to the next 5 weekends and having a great time.  If anyone is in the area and has not been there yet this year or has never been to the festival, please do come out.  It is a wonderful day outside playing with the cast, shopping at unique shops and enjoying laughter with your friends.  And when in town, say the Lord High Mayor sent you!!

    The Power of the Kilt

Tuesday, March 18, 2008, 10:29 AM EST [General]

This past weekend were all the St Patrick's Day celebrations in Pittsburgh.  Being the lover of a kilt, I had to wear my new Stewart Black kilt.  It is amazing the attention you grab with a kilt.  It was so much fun also sharing the history and questions people have about kilts.  It was a wonderful time and only wish that these celebrations happened more often.  I will try to find more reasons to wear it and have a great time as I did this past weekend.  I was generally surprised with the acceptance of it and I had very few guys laughing about it, more asking me where I got it and comments on how they wished they had worn one as well.  Well here is to the brave men who wear the kilt.  Slainte!!

    Ah, St Patrick's Day

Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 08:05 PM EST [General]

Well, it is coming upon that time of year once again to don the green and act like a bit of a fool.  St Patrick's Day is becoming on of my absolute favorite holidays.  Once again, Lady Alchemy and myself will be venturing into Pittsburgh to participate in the St Patrick's Day parade.  The past two years I have been able to march with the St Andrew's Society of Pittsburgh.  This year I hope to pull double duty with them and our own Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival will be having a group in the parade.  It should be a blast.  The feeling you get as you walk down the streets through Pittsburgh with all the people lining either side, it is amazing.  Well I hope to see some of the familiar faces along the parade route this year.  Be sure to yell if you see me as well.  Be good.  Slainte.
